This workshop is all about building better jazz piano voicings by deeply understanding the II V I progression — the most common chord sequence in jazz. We’ll start with key signatures and the circle of 5ths to give you a strong harmonic foundation. From there, we’ll explore how 3rds and 7ths define each chord in a II-V-I and how they lead smoothly from one to the next. You’ll learn how to add richness and color by adding 5ths, 9ths, and 13ths. And we'll do it all in the context of a II V I. We’ll also dig into Drop 2 voicings, showing you how to spread chords across both hands for a fuller sound. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to clean up your comping, this session will give you practical tools to master II V I voicings in all 12 keys.
